Description
The behaviour of Pu, U, and HNO3 was studied for the PUREX co-decontamination cycle of LWR-fuel under off-standard conditions. Concerning the chemical flowsheet the HNO3 concentration of the scrub solution was decreased stepwise down to 0.2 M. With respect to the operation condition of the scrub column the hold up was enhanced up to 9.8%. The experiments resulted in accumulations of Pu and U in the scrub column. The steady state concentration profiles of the off-standard flowsheets were nicely simulated by the computer program VISCO. The paper reports also on details of the design of the facility MINKA.
