Lead isotope signatures of the Lachlan Fold Belt

Creators

Description

The lead composition of geological samples from various tectonic domains and different styles of gold and base metal mineralization of the Lachlan Fold Belt has been determined using high precision analyses on mass spectrometer. Results are expressed as ratios of 208Pb/204Pb, 207Pb/204Pb and 206Pb/204Pb. A number of well-constrained lead isotopic signatures have been defined for mineralization associated with Ordovician to Carboniferous metallogenic events, aiming to establish a lead isotope database. The database will be of benefit to the mineral exploration industry, as an indication of whether a particular mineralogical or geochemical anomaly is likely to represent a significant mineral resource. 1 ref., 1 tab., 1 fig
