Thermal decomposition of uranyl chloride complexes with protonated hexamethylenetetramine

Description

Thermal stability in inert atmosphere of uranyl chloride complexes with single and double protonated hexamethylenetetramine (HMTA) (C6H12N4H2)2(UO2Cl4) and C6H12N4H2(UO2Cl4xH2O), as well as their addition products with hydrogen chloride molecules, has been studied. It is shown that rebuilding of the complexes structure preceedes their decomposition. In the process of thermolysis no break off of proton from C6H12N4H+ and and no evolution of hydrogen chloride take place. During the decomposition of the compounds considerable amount of ammonium chloride is sublimated. Thermal stabilization of the complexes with double protonated HMTA is higher than that of single protonated one
