Reflection seismics

2D seismic investigations in a geologically complex area such as Wellenberg are generally somewhat restricted. However, with the data recorded in 1989, it was possible to obtain important information on the structural geological setting. The top and bottom boundaries of the host rock formation could be traced and steeply-dipping fault zones identified. Raypath modelling allowed information to be obtained indirectly on the location of the lateral boundaries of the host rock. No foreign rock inclusions were identified within the host rock formation.
