Neutron responses of Panasonic TLD
- 1. Musashi Inst. of Tech., Kawasaki, Kanagawa (Japan). Atomic Energy Research Lab.
Description
The measurement of neutrons was carried out by using a Matsushita Panasonic TLD, and its sensibility characteristics were examined. Four TL elements are mounted on this one TLD, which has been on the market as the individual dosimeter for gamma-ray. The specification of this TLD is shown. The Li2B4O7 TL elements are those that show little energy dependence and nearly flat response to the gamma-ray of wide energy range. The CaSO4 TL elements show high sensibility, but the energy dependence is large, and show particularly high response to low energy gamma-ray. The experiment at the Rikkyo reactor and the experiment using 241Am-Be radiation source were carried out. The results at the Rikkyo reactor were very large as compared with the results by the use of 241Am, and the indicated values by Li2B4O7 were very large as compared with those indicated by CaSO4. The values indicated by two CaSO4 elements were nearly the same in the Rikkyo reactor, but were different in the 241Am source. These circumstances are discussed. When the profile of neutron spectrum is known, the sensibility ratio of thermal neutrons and intermediate neutrons can be calculated. The result is shown. (K.I.)
