Radioactive material removing device for liquid metal
- 1. Hitachi Engineering Co. Ltd., Ibaraki (Japan)
Description
A liquid metal spraying entrance tube is disposed on a central axis of a sealed cylindrical vessel. A plurality of spray nozzles are radially connected, to the liquid metal spraying entrance tube. Liquid metals containing radioactive materials which cooled a reactor core flow into the vessel and they are diffused and absorbed in fillers contained in the vessel. Liquid metals of the same kind as the coolant metals are supplied from the liquid metal spraying import tube. The liquid metals are blown out from blowing ports at the top ends of the spray nozzles so as to sweep the inner circumferential surface of the fillers, and then collide against the inner wall surface of the fillers. This decreases the thickness of a boundary layer formed between the surface of the fillers and the liquid metals, and the boundary layer is partially pealed off, to increase the amount of the radioactive materials absorbed to the fillers. Portions which may possibly cause leakage of the liquid metals are reduced, as well as occasions of maintenance work can be reduced. (I.N.)
