Partial escape widths of giant resonances

Description
A method for calculation of the partial-nucleon-escape widths of giant resonances is proposed. The method is exact within the random-phase approximation in the continuum. A phenomenological description of the giant-resonance coupling to many-particle configurations is also given. This approach is applied to evaluation of the partial-nucleon-escape widths of various giant resonances in 208Pb parent nucleus. Our results are compared with the results of other theoretical approaches and with the relevant experimental data. (orig.)
