Spectroscopic studies on superconducting Tl-Ba-Ca-Cu-O thin films

  • 1. Physics Dept., Simon Fraser Univ., Burnaby (Canada)

Description

High Tc superconducting (HTSC) films, Tc∝100 K, are very attractive for device applications. Good quality superconducting films with a high degree of lateral homogeneity are a necessary prerequisite. We have employed several powerful analytic techniques allowing us to investigate the compositional and structural properties in various depths. These were XPS and Auger electron spectroscopies (sampling depth ∝25 A), Raman spectroscopy (1000-3000 A), Θ-2Θ X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) (several μm) and Energy Dispersive X-ray Analysis (EDX) (1-2 μm). Studies were performed of rf sputtered TlBaCaCuO films. (orig./BHO)
