Tests at 593 deg. C (1100 deg. F) on a 101.6-mm (4-in.), sched-10, elbow-pipe assembly subjected to in-plane moment loading

Description

Elevated temperature (593 deg. C) tests were performed on a type 304 stainless steel elbow-pipe assembly to provide deformation data on the inelastic behavior of an elbow subjected to a constant moment loading. These data may be used by structural analysts as an additional basis in verification of inelastic analysis methods for piping systems. The test history consisted of application of an initial constant in-plane moment loading followed by a period of creep under this constant loading, a step change in moment load, and a period of creep under this second constant on-plane moment. Throughout the test, deflections of the free end of the assembly and surface strains at selected points on the elbow were measured
