Problems in radiation physics of low and medium energy

  • 1. AN Kazakhskoj SSR, Alma-Ata. Inst. Yadernoj Fiziki

Description

The various kinds of radiation-induced damages in materials used in the core of nuclear and fusion reactors are described. The effect of irradiation with a high neutron fluence (1023 cm-2 and higher) upon the strength, plasticity, creep, volume, and density of reactor materials has been studied. The experimental data are given for molybdenum, niobium, zircaloy, nimonic, and different steels. The promising methods of reducing the degree of radiation-induced swelling are noted. Nuclear-physical methods of investigation, including the ion simulation technique, and the areas of their application are described
