Two-dimensional distributions of ionization losses, electron density, and electric field in an extremely supported discharge
Creators
Description
The two-dimensional distribution of ionization losses of an electron beam in an externally supported discharge is calculated by the Monte Carlo method. This response of the electron density and electric field to the nonuniformity of ionization of the medium is calculated by analyzing the balance equation for electron density and the continuity equation for the current. It is shown that zones of attachment instability develop in a two-dimensional discharge in the presence of electronegative molecules when the electrodes are considerably longer than the width of irradiation by the electron beam. The influence of an admixture of oxygen on the distributions of electric field and electron density in CO2:N2:He gas mixtures is determined
