Dynamics of adparticles and neutron inelastic scattering

Creators

Description

The discussion of dynamic properties is introduced by considering the vibrational frequencies of molecules adsorbed on metal surfaces. Also discussed are the principles of neutron scattering from adsorbed molecules. A brief comparison with other surface techniques is then presented, followed by a discussion of diffusion and its influence on neutron scattering cross-sections. Electronic and vibration spectra of adsorbed molecules are examined, and the next topic treated is adsorbate frequency shifts as influenced by coordination at the surface, followed by a theoretical framework for interpreting neutron inelastic scattering from covered surfaces. The last major topic of the chapter is the treatment of adparticle dynamics via Kramer's equation
