Coal and the environment in China

The environment has aroused greater concern recently in many countries. China ranks as the world's highest in coal consumption, although the energy consumption per capita accounts for only one third of the global average. Yet, the Chinese government has determined to pay more attention to environmental control in the development of the economy and the energy industry. They hope to develop sincere cooperation with various countries in the world on the basis of equality and mutual benefit in the development of clean coal technologies using coal in a more effective, clean and inexpensive way, thus eventually improving the environment in China and the world.
