Study of physical properties of ferroalloy aluminothermic slags for recovering of uranium and thorium

Description
The NORM minerals generate, after metallurgical processing, radioactive slag that can be controlled by CNEN. Therefore, a reprocessing route must be established to make the free material. The route necessarily goes through the characterization of the slag from its physical properties. This paper presents the results of the variation of U and Th oxide concentrations with the electrical and magnetic properties, density and slag size. It has been observed that metallurgical processing produces as a residue a molecularly bound slag between the oxides that constitute it. Thus, oxide separation will only be possible with slag leaching
