Search for semiconducting hypermaterials
- 1. Tokyo University, Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, Kashiwa, Chiba (Japan)
Description
More than 70 types of stable quasicrystals have been identified so far. However, all of them are metallic, and no semiconducting quasicrystals have been found. The search for semiconducting quasicrystals is not only one of the challenging problems in solid-state physics, but also has great potential for high-performance thermoelectric materials and high-Tc superconducting materials.
