The British gas industry

The new era of the British gas economy dates back to the mid-eighties when the British Gas Corporation became private and competition subsequently livened up. Today, almost 10 years later, it is in place to take stock of the developments since then. In the present article the author elucidates the observable effects that competition has had on the more important parameters of the gas market. His resumee on this still ongoing development process: Through many things are still in motion one can already say that the British customer has undeviably benefitted from the rationalisation process set off by competition, in particular from the great decrease in gas operating costs and, more lately gas prices.
