Investigation of the copolymerization of methylmethacrylate with styrene initiated by 200 kV X-rays in strong electrical fields

Description
Styrene was copolymerized with methylmethacrylate by 200 kV X-rays in electrical fields of 0 to 80 kV/cm. The initiation and ion formation rates were determined in dependence on the monomer ratio. The reactivity ratios indicate slightly higher formation of alternating copolymers at 80 kV/cm than by copolymerization without fields. This effect is attributed to electrochemical processes.
