High-energy physics and technology
Description
A meeting on 'Technology arising from High-Energy Physics' was held in CERN in April 1974. This article discusses the proceedings of that meeting which include not only the review papers but also present concise notes on all 255 individual exhibit stands set up during the meeting. Shor examples are given for some topics covered in the proceedings like high-precision alignment techniques, particle detectors, data handling, vacuum, superconducting coils, and computer control applied to accelerators. Im April vorigen Jahres wurde am Europaeischen Kernforschungszentrum CERN ein Meeting abgehalten, das sich mit den Einfluessen und Auswirkungen der Hochenergiephysik auf physikalische Verfahrenstechniken und allgemein auf die Entwicklung der Technik auseinandersetzte. An 255 Ausstellungsobjekten und -gebieten sollten diese Entwicklungen sichtbar gemacht werden. (orig.)Additional details
