Description
The approach to ignition in one-dimensional tokamak models is examined, first by mapping parameter space using a steady-state code and then by applying, to JET, a particular transport model justified by comparison with PLT. The appearance of a cool plasma mantle to limit impurity production is an important feature of this model and conditions are given for the mantle to exist stably. (author)
