The civil nuclear policy: chronology

This document indicates the main events related to the development, implementation and operation of civil nuclear activities in France and in the world (discoveries, incidents and accidents, political decisions, and so on). After an initial period (from the discovery of radioactivity to the operation of the first atomic pile in 1948 by the CEA), it distinguishes several periods: the beginnings of the French electro-nuclear program (1952-1973), the Messmer plan or the implementation of an all-nuclear option (1974-1986), from Chernobyl to the programme act defining the objectives of the French energy policy (1986-2005), from the programme act about orientations of the energy policy to the Fukushima accident (2005-2012), and from the postponement of the putting into operation of the Flamanville EPR
