Effect of γ-irradiation on the extractability of lignite (Paper No. RE-05)
Description
Extractability of Kutch Lignite in different solvents at varying γ-doses in CCl4 has been investigated. Extractability after chlorination increases upto 100 Mrad, after which it either levels off or decreases. The increased extractability is ascribable to the weakening of cohesive secondary forces rather than rupture of primary linkages, whilst the constancy or decrease might be due to polymerisation or cross-linking.
