Wind effects on the performance of natural draft wet cooling towers comparison of constructors proposals and realization of performance control tests

  • 1. Electricite de France, Chatou (France)
  • 2. Electricite de France, Villeubranne (France)

Description

The presence of wind can affect the cooled water temperature by several degrees. Some on-site test results carried out by Electricite de France are given, and the economic importance of this phenomena is shown. The authors also show how proposals which have the same nominal specifications can have very different performances over the whole operating range, and they indicate how to choose the best one. Finally, the technique used by Electricite de France to interpret the control performance test results is presented
