  • 1. Groupement des autorites responsables de transport - GART (France)
  • 2. Commission des Affaires etrangeres, Assemblee nationale (France)

Description

After an introduction on the issues of citizen awareness, of re-foundation of the concept of sustainable development, of energy at the heart of all stakes, and of the crucial relationship between energy and climate, this publication describes the different present environmental hazards: greenhouse effect as an indispensable phenomenon but disturbed by human activity, sources of CO2 emissions, the example of the successful reduction of SO2 emissions. It proposes an overview of the present situation: the perspective of the end of fossil energies, the technological dream of CO2 capture, the reduction of demand (in transports, housing and office building, industry, and electricity), the case of non-emitting energies (renewable energies, nuclear energy, hydrogen). It comments economic and political regulations, and finally proposes an overview of possible actions to be quickly implemented
