Description

The German code for nuclear power plants requires mechanized ultrasonic inspections of primary coolant pipes, steam generators and pressurizers etc. These inspections are performed by means of remotely controlled manipulators combined with multi-channel ultrasonic equipment and mobile computer systems. The authors report how these established systems will be supplemented by a new medium size system consisting of an 8-channel UT-module controlled by a microprocessor unit. This new system allows the presentation of results in an interactive mode in the course of the running examinations. Areas of special interest, for example, with indications, can be displayed in B- and C-scans or further analyzed with amplitude and time of flight information
