Description

The kinetics of thermal polycyclodehydration of molded samples, prepared from equimolar mixtures of carborane-containing dimers of tetraketodianhydrides and 4,4'-diaminodiphenyloxide, was studied. The rate constants and activation energies of the process were determined in the temperature range 473-496 K. It was shown that rate of thermal polycyclodehydration of molded samples is determined mainly by the rate of integral diffusion. A means of reducing the role of this factor was found. Molded products of carborane-containing polyamide were prepared by chemical molding. The products are characterized by high strength, hardness, and thermostability, and give large coke residues under conditions of thermooxidation
