Description
Experimental results are presented on the streaming of neutrons and photons through two mazes at the MIT-Bates Linear Accelerator. A ''reduced centerline distance'' x(z) = ∫sub(0)sup(z)dz[S(z)]sup(-1/2), where z is the actual centerline length and S the cross sectional area, is shownn to be useful in summarizing various data. The main feature of the neutron attenuation in the present experiment is in agreement with that of Price et al. with a modification, while it is a little faster than that in an experiment by Maerker and Muckenthaler. The photon dose is proportional to x-2 in the first leg and to x sub(i)sup(-2.7) (i = 2 or 3) in the i-th leg where x sub(i) is the x value after the (i - 1)-th bend. (author)
