Entropy of the crystalline boundaries

Description
The crystalline boundary of two crystalline lattices is regarded as a microcanonical statistical ensemble composed of two pairs of sites, viz, basic sites and reference sites. The expressions are obtained for the probability state of the system and difference entropy of the crystalline boundary. A method of difference entropy minimum is used to analyze <100> and <110> twist and tilt grain boundaries of the FCC lattice, and BCC/FCC interphase boundaries. It is shown that in the region of special boundaries and for the experimental orientation ratios at epitaxy the difference entropy assumes minimal values
