A future vision of targeted alpha therapy in Japan. Monologue from an academia

  • 1. National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology, Department of Advanced Nuclear Medicine Sciences, Chiba (Japan)

Description

In Japan, while diagnostic nuclear medicine has made a full-scale development, therapeutic research is gaining momentum. Specifically, many basic studies have been conducted on 211At and 225Ac as the main therapeutic nuclides and clinical studies have also been initiated with those alpha emitters. In order to carry out therapeutic research vigorously, we feel the need to improve our current research environment fundamentally. The author would like to argue that it is a good time now to renovate our 'playground' to modern technical and medical standards. (author)
