Development of radioactive scrap metal melting and recycling technology
Description
Low level radioactive scrap metal recycling is essential especially to the age of reactor decommissioning. Scrap metal recycling system has been commercialized in European countries and US, and the melting technology is the heart of the system in those countries and will be also in Japan, where the system will be realized in the near future. This paper reports the present situation of radioactive scrap metal melting and recycling in the countries and Japan, and the MITI R and D project for scrap metal melting and recycling ; the development of recycling system of reactor operating scrap metal, as an important example.
