Description
Activities in the in vivo diagnostic nuclear medicine services unit will produce radioactive waste either in solid burned form, solid compacted, liquid, unused sealed radioactive source/substance and unused Mo-99/Tc-99m generator. In order for making those radioactive waste to be properly managed to protect and ensure the safety of personnel/radiation workers, patients/communities and the environment from radiation exposure, the permit holder (PI) as a radioactive waste producer obligated to conduct the collection and classification of radioactive waste in accordance with Article 7 of Government Regulation No. 61 of 2013 on Radioactive Waste Management and Article 4 & 22 of Regulation of The head of Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN) Number 8 Year 2016 on Low and Medium Level Radioactive Waste Treatment. If the classified collected radioactive waste is not directly sent to the Radioactive Waste Technology Center - National Nuclear Energy Agency (PTLR - BATAN), PI obliged to store it temporarily in a storage room which fulfills the requirements. If the classified collected radioactive waste will be sent to PTLR - BATAN, PI obliged to fulfill the provisions on the of radioactive waste/substances transportation. (author)
