Association and its energetic effect in liquid indium-antimony-zinc alloys

Description
Mixing enthalpies of liquid alloys have been measured for the cross-sections of InSb-Zn and InSb-ZnSb at 828 and 853 K respectively. The concentration dependence of the mixing enthalpies can quantitatively be described in terms of an associate model. It is shown that the In3Sb, InSb and Zn4Sb3 associates appearing in the liquid alloys of the bordering binary systems are also present in the In-Sb-Zn ternary liquid alloys and they determine the values of the mixing enthalpies. Ternary associates apparently don't exist in the liquid phase of this system. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Fuer die Schnitte InSb-Zn und InSb-ZnSb sind Mischungsenthalpien fluessiger Legierungen bei 828 bzw. 853 K ermittelt worden. Die Konzentrationsabhaengigkeit der Mischungsenthalpien kann anhand eines Assoziatmodells quantitativ beschrieben werden. Es wird gezeigt, dass die in den binaeren Randsystemen auftretenden Assoziate In3Sb, InSb und Zn4Sb3 auch in den ternaeren In-Sb-Zn-Schmelzen vorliegen und die Werte der Mischungsenthalpien festlegen. Ternaere Assoziate existieren in Schmelzen dieses Systems offensichtlich nicht. (orig.)Additional details
