Description

Method of radiofrequency discrete saturation was used to investigate superhyperfine interaction (SHFI) of Nd3+ tetragonal center in CaF2 monocrystal. Values and signs of SHFI tensor components with fluorine nuclei of the first and second coordination spheres and nucleus of a charge-compensating fluorine ion were determined. For the first time suggested are SHFI parameters for noncubical centers which were used for qualitative consideration of covalence effects in Nd3+ SHFI in CaF2 as well as the comparison of the SHFI of U3+ isoelectron actinide ion in the same matrix. Local lattice distortions near Nd3+ due to replacement of lattice cation with Nd3+ ion and introduction of a charge-compensating fluorine ion were revealed and their characterizing parameters were determined on the basis of the obtained data on SHFI
