Depletion interactions in cylinder

  • 1. Department of Physics, Hunan Normal University, Changsha 410081 (China)

Description

With the aid of the acceptance ratio method, the depletion effects between two large hard spheres immersed in the sea of small spheres which is further confined in a small cylinder are studied by the Monte Carlo simulations. The numerical results show that the effects on both the depletion potentials and depletion forces from the geometrical confinement of the cylinder are stronger than that from two parallel plates. On the other hand, with the increase of the diameter of the cylinder or the decrease of the volume fraction, the depletion effects decrease
