Integration of an emergency response facility system at Florida Power and Light Company
Description
Various utility groups were formed to address the regulations that were promulgated after the accident at Three Mile Island Unit Two. One of these efforts resulted in the Safety Assessment System. This effort included the development of a series of computer displays to assist the operator in his assessment of the plant safety status. These concepts were utilized by Florida Power and Light in the design of an integrated emergency response system. This system uses the Safety Assessment System as the basis to address the requirement for the Safety Parameter Display System and integrates the displays and data base needed to meet the functions of the Technical Support Center and the Emergency Offsite Facility. The hardware for this system includes smart multiplexers for signal conditioning, high resolution cathode ray tubes, data links to interface to other systems, and remote display facilities for the Technical Support Center and Emergency Offsite Facility
