Description
This paper discusses the use of alternative fuels in CANDU reactors. The main features of CANDU type reactors are high neutron economy, simple and flexible fuel design and on-power refueling. A CANDU reactor can also produce Cobalt 60 in large quantities as well as using recovered uranium from PWR reactors. Thorium can also be used as a fuel in CANDU reactors.
