A study on the dynamic behavior of a large-scale foundation on the soft ground, 7

Description

In order to study the aseismatic stability of nuclear power plants on soft ground, the earthquake response analysis of a large foundation on soft ground was carried out. The computer program ''TB3D2'' was used for the analysis, which was developed by the Central Research Institute of Electric Power Industry, and is the code for the earthquake response analysis of a soilstructure system. The calculated results were compared with the measured results. The 2-D FEM complex dynamic analysis method with pseudo 3-D dampers was also applied to this problem, and the results were compared with those of the 3-D FEM analysis. In view of any one of the maximum amplitude distribution, time series data, transfer functions and response spectra, the results calculated by TB3D2 both on the foundation and on or in the ground were good enough as compared with the measured results. Therefore, it was shown that the proposed method was valid and effective for this purpose. As to the aseismatic effect of foundations, they are usually more effective in high frequency range, and it can be approximately simulated by the conventional method.
