Study of precipitation hardening in Al-Zn-Mg alloys with small additions of silver
Creators

Description
The decomposition of the solid solution of an Al-68% Zn-2% Mg alloy, containing small additions of silver (0,2%) was examined by x-ray diffraction. The applied technique enabled qualitative observation of GP zones formation and determination of their structure in quenched samples. The formation of secondary phases takes place by a cellular precipitation reaction. Except for some increase in decomposition rate of the solid solution during quenching, no significant differences were noticed between alloy containing silver and alloy without silver
