Characterization of Pellet Mixture of Oxide Uranium and Oxide Zirconium That is Sintering Process Product

Description

Characterization of mixture pellet UO2 and ZrO2 result of sintering process has been done as a mean to knows hardness character, microstructure, grain size and pellet density. Powder UO2 and ZrO2 weighing varying mingled to be finite of homogeneous, then is compaction until is obtained raw pellet and then is sintered to become pellet (UO2 and ZrO2) sinter. Pellet result of the sinter is done some examination that is determination of density with measurement method (heavily and pellet volume), observation microstructure by using optical microscope, determination of grain size with Hillard method and hardness character with method Vickers method. Result of measurement of density indicates that happened improvement of pellet density result of sinter reaches average of each of 5.44 g/ml becomes 10.42 g/ml (ZrO2 0%), 5.46 g/ml becomes 10.40 g/ml (ZrO2 0.2%) and 5.51 becomes 10.34 g/ml (ZrO2 0.4%). Result of big measurement of item indicates that big of item sinter pellet experiences improvement with addition of ZrO2 that is: 5.2 μ m (ZrO2 0%), 4.7 μ m (ZrO2 0.2%), and 4,9 μ m (ZrO2 0.4%). Result of measurement of hardness indicates that hardness character of sinter pellet experiences improvement with addition of each ZrO2 495 VHN (ZrO2 0%), 592 VHN (ZrO2 0.2%), and 575 VHN (ZrO2 0.4%).
