Phase separation and superconductivity

  • 1. Dipt. di Fisica, Rome Univ. (Italy)

Description

The thermodynamic stability of two widely investigated models for high Tc superconductivity, the Kondo-lattice and the extended three band Hubbard model, is analyzed in the strong local repulsion regime. Superconducting instabilities in these models are also found. For the first model superconductivity stabilizes the system against phase separation. For the second model the superconducting instabilities occur close to the phase separation region. In both models, therefore, phase separation and superconductivity appear to be related phenomena
