Are gluons the whole story?
Description
Models which attribute the high energy growth of total cross-sections to the increasing dominance of the gluon structure function at small x are shown to contradict either the Tevatron σsub(anti p)p measurement or the CERN Santi ppS data on the ratio of real to imaginary parts of the anti pp forward amplitude. The origin of the difficulty is explained. (orig.)
