Axial energy loss of a moving ion ring in a plasma

  • 1. Cornell Univ., Ithaca, NY (USA). Lab. of Plasma Studies

Description

The axial drag on a moving ion ring in a plasma due to the generation of magnetohydrodynamic waves is calculated for large magnetic Reynolds number. The predicted stopping length checks reasonably with particle simulation computations. (author)
