Fabrication and properties of multicomponent nickel-based layers

  • 1. Wydzial Inzynierii Materialowej, Politechnika Warszawska, Warsaw (Poland)

Description

A prospective development line in surface engineering is the fabrication of multicomponent surface layers by, e.g. combining various processes of surface treatment. The layers thus obtained assemble various properties appropriately selected and complementary to one another, thanks to which their application range may be widened substantially. The paper presents the results of examination of the structure and properties of nickel based multicomponent layers formed on the Ti-1Al-1Mn titanium alloy by a combination of chemical electroless nitriding with a glow-discharge-assisted heat treatment or with the plasma spraying of Al2O3 and ZrO2*Y2O3 oxides. The layers thus obtained have a diffusion character and show good performance properties. (author)
