Experience with the moisture preseparator (MOPS) and with the special crossunder pipe separator (SCRUPS) in the Leibstadt Nuclear Plant
Description
The Leibstadt Nuclear Power Plant is equipped with four moisture preseparators (MOPS), one at each HP turbine exhaust. In addition two prototype special crossunder pipe separators (SCRUPS) are installed in two elbows of one of the four crossunder pipes upstream of the moisture separator reheater. The MOPS separates the moisture flowing along the turbine walls. The SCRUPS is a newly developed separating device operating at crossunder pipe velocity. This paper describes the design of the MOPS and SCRUPS, the excellent operating experience in the Leibstadt Nuclear Plant, the tests performed and their results
