Developments of in vivo neutron activation analysis and photon absorptiometry in Edinburgh
Description
Systems for measuring calcium in the forearm and spine using sources of 252Cf have been developed. Whole-body calcium is measured using neutrons from a cyclotron. Dual photon absorptiometry is used to measure bone mineral in the lumbar spine. All the systems are used in clinical research, both absolute levels and changes being studied. (author)
