Description

The objective of the OECD/NEA Information Exchange Programme on Actinide and Fission Product Partitioning and Transmutation, established in 1989, is to enhance the value of basic research by facilitating the exchange of information on and discussions of programmes, experimental procedures and results. The information Exchange Meetings are an integral part of this Programme intending to bring biennial review of the state-of-the-art of partitioning and transmutation. It is co-organised by the NEA Secretariat and major laboratories in Member countries. This sixth Information Exchange Meeting Follows a series of meetings in Mito City (1990), Argonne (1992), Cadarache (1994), Mito City (1996) and Mol (1998). On average, about 130 experts attended these meetings. This sixth edition will be jointly organised by NEA's Committee for Technical and Economic Studies on Nuclear energy Development and the Fuel Cycle (NDC) and Nuclear science Committee (NSC) and the European Commission. The meeting will be kindly hosted by CIEMAT and ENRESA. The meeting will cover the broad spectrum of developments in the field of P and T and will try to emphasize some elements of: - The role of P and T in advanced nuclear fuel cycles. - The developments in partitioning. - The technology of fast reactors and accelerator-driven systems as transmutation device including developments in accelerators, materials (targets, coolants) and fuels. - The characteristics of transmutation systems and their safety. - The R and D needs, including benchmarks, data-needs, experiments and the role of international collaborations.
