STM study of independent mesoscopic superconducting particles

Description
A scanning tunnelling microscope is used to characterize mesoscopic superconducting particles of lead evaporated thermally. The superconducting properties in the electronic density of states are observed in isolated particles for sizes smaller than the coherence length of bulk lead. (orig.)
