To the theory of neoclassical magnetic islands in tokamaks

  • 1. RNTs ''Kurchatovskij Institut'', Moscow (Russian Federation)

Description

The problem of the neoclassical magnetic islands in a tokamak is investigated theoretically. It is shown, that the longitudinal electric field should be accounted for determining the rotation frequency of these islands. Methods for determination of the frequency are analyzed by means of the energy conservation law and Ampere law. These frequency rotations are calculated in modes of weak and strong electron collisions. The equation for the island width with taking into account the gradients of the ion and electron temperatures is obtained
