A study on advanced small punch test for evaluation of fracture strength and toughness in weldment microstructures

Description

In this study, the minimized loading ball(φ1.5mm) and bore diameter of lower die(φ3mm) were designed for Advanced Small Punch(ASP) test to evaluate the fracture strength and toughness of microstructures in steel weldment due to regional limitation on constitutive structures. The results obtained from the ASP test were compared with those from Conventional Small Punch(CSP) test for several weldment microstructures. It was found that the ASP test clearly showed the microstructural dependence on fracture strength and ductile-brittle transition behavior of the X20CrMoV121 steel weldment
