R.F. source for the power conversion in a R.F. stabilized plasma torch (Paper No. CP 22)

  • 1. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay (India). Plasma Physics Div.

Description

The generation of stable atmospheric pressure plasmas using the radio-frequency source in gases like argon, nitrogen, oxygen and air, in a cylindrical ceramic or quartz tube is known as R.F. plasma torch. In this paper the R.F. source requirement in terms of power, frequency and the ratio of the plasma radius(a) to the radius of R.F. coil(rc) for different gases is reviewed. The argon plasma generated using a 40kW, R.F. source and the torch efficiency (ηT) obtained are discussed. (author). 7 refs., 4 figs., 1 tab
