Dynamic constitutive response of tantalum at high strain rates

Description

Pressure-shear plate impact experiments were conducted on annealed and rolled tantalum foils to determine the dynamic constitutive response of the material at high strain rates between 105s-1 and 106s-1 and pressures between 4 and 8 GPa. The experiments were performed to determine the strain rate sensitivity of the flow stress of the metal. The results suggest that both texture and strain rate play an important role in determining the flow stress of tantalum
